Research Interests
The laboratory of S.B. Sparber carries out neuropsychopharmacology
and neurobehavioral toxicology studies to assess the functional
consequences of exposure to drugs or chemicals, especially
during development. Direct action of agents, secondary actions,
such as adaptive changes (e.g. dependence), tertiary actions,
(e.g. withdrawal stress), and quartemary actions (e.g. malnutrition,
prolonged exposure to elevated glucocorticoids) are factors
considered and experimentally tested for determining the
mechanism whereby drugs and other insulting agents modify
function transiently and/or permanently.
