Neurodegenerative diseases, neuronal function

Faculty in this group are conducting innovative research directed at mechanisms of neuronal function under normal conditions and in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. Studies range from receptor function, calcium mobilization, cholesterol homeostasis and discovering new drug targets for treating neurodegenerative diseases. These faculty use novel imaging techniques, transgenic animal and cell models, biochemical, molecular biological and cellular approaches to understand mechanisms of normal and pathological neuronal function.
